Establishment Objectives
The laboratory, located in Room S201-1 of the Information Building, was established to provide the necessary resources, including space and equipment, for participating faculty members.
This laboratory focuses on theoretical research and teaching applications related to e-commerce and business intelligence. Its goal is to enhance the department’s research and application achievements in these fields effectively.
To achieve this objective, the lab offers state-of-the-art hardware and software tools to support faculty members in their research and teaching activities.
Additionally, the lab organizes seminars, workshops, and training programs to keep faculty and students up-to-date on the latest developments in e-commerce and business intelligence.
Laboratory Members
This laboratory is overseen by six faculty members of the department, who take turns serving as the lead instructor responsible for day-to-day operations.
Dr. Yih-Ping Cheng specializes in e-commerce knowledge management and website design. Dr. Chun-Hung Huang specializes in e-commerce strategy marketing and digital commerce.
Dr. Yung-Feng Hsu’s expertise lies in big data analysis for business, while Dr. Hsiao-Chi Wu specializes in organizational transformation for e-commerce and other enterprises. Dr. Shu-Yi Chen focuses on information architecture and user experience.
The lead instructor and all members of the laboratory also mentor graduate and undergraduate students from the department, utilizing laboratory resources to conduct various research projects and activities.
Laboratory Management Regulations
Given that this laboratory is utilized by faculty members of the department and serves as a resource for guiding graduate and undergraduate students in conducting various research and exploration activities, the following management regulations are established to ensure the rational and safe use of laboratory resources:
1️⃣ The supervising faculty member of the laboratory may designate a graduate student to serve as the lab manager, assisting with daily operations and related tasks.
2️⃣ The resources of the laboratory are primarily intended for use by the supervising faculty members, their graduate students, and undergraduate students under their guidance. Access to the laboratory will be controlled via personal access cards.
3️⃣ Graduate and undergraduate students must obtain approval from their supervising faculty member before entering the laboratory. Unauthorized access to the laboratory without prior consent will result in the temporary suspension of their access privileges. Reinstatement of access will be subject to a review of the situation by the supervising faculty member and their advisor, followed by necessary actions and approval.
4️⃣ The use of laboratory resources (including space and equipment) requires prior approval from the supervising faculty member. Additionally, the process must involve the assistance of the department’s teaching assistants, and the supervising faculty member must be informed afterward.
5️⃣ In the event of malfunction or improper use of laboratory resources (including space and equipment), the supervising faculty member and the department’s teaching assistants must be notified to investigate the cause and take necessary corrective actions.
6️⃣ At the end of each semester, the department’s teaching assistants are responsible for conducting an inventory check of laboratory resources (including space and equipment) and notifying the supervising faculty member of the results. In cases of resource shortages or damage, the supervising faculty member and the department chair must be informed to investigate the cause and take necessary corrective actions.
