Establishment Objectives
Located in Room S204 of the Information Building, this laboratory will conduct various theoretical research and educational applications related to artificial intelligence and big data analysis, effectively enhancing the research and application achievements of our department in these fields.
To achieve these goals, the laboratory provides the latest hardware facilities and software tools to support the research and teaching activities of faculty members.
Additionally, the laboratory also organizes seminars, workshops, and training courses to keep faculty and students up-to-date with the latest developments in artificial intelligence and big data analysis, applying this knowledge to research.
Laboratory Members
This laboratory comprises eight faculty members: Dr. Jyh-jong Lin, Dr. Hsuan-Shih Lee, Dr. Ching-Sheng Hsu,
Dr. Wen-Huei Chen, Dr.Chang-Ming Yan, Dr. Chang-Ling Hsu, Dr. Chien-Liang Lin and Dr. Yi-Chia Shan.
One faculty member is elected as the supervising professor to manage daily laboratory-related affairs.
Among the members, the research of Dr. Hsuan-Shih Lee, Dr. Jyh-jong Lin, Dr.Ching-Sheng Hsu, Dr.Chang-Ling Hsu and Dr. Chang-Ming Yan focuses on big data. The research of Dr. Wen-Huei Chen, Dr. Yi-Chia Shan and Dr. Chien-Liang Lin focuses on artificial intelligence (AI).
The department places particular emphasis on the application of artificial intelligence and big data in information management.
Many applications integrate both AI and big data analysis, and the laboratory aligns with this trend by promoting the integration of these fields.
The supervising professor and all laboratory members guide the department’s graduate and undergraduate students in utilizing laboratory resources to conduct various research and exploration activities.
Laboratory Management Regulations
Given that this laboratory is utilized by faculty members of the department and serves as a resource for guiding graduate and undergraduate students in conducting various research and exploration activities, the following management regulations are established to ensure the rational and safe use of laboratory resources:
1️⃣ The supervising faculty member of the laboratory may designate a graduate student to serve as the lab manager, assisting with daily operations and related tasks.
2️⃣ The resources of the laboratory are primarily intended for use by the supervising faculty members, their graduate students, and undergraduate students under their guidance. Access to the laboratory will be controlled via personal access cards.
3️⃣ Graduate and undergraduate students must obtain approval from their supervising faculty member before entering the laboratory. Unauthorized access to the laboratory without prior consent will result in the temporary suspension of their access privileges. Reinstatement of access will be subject to a review of the situation by the supervising faculty member and their advisor, followed by necessary actions and approval.
4️⃣ The use of laboratory resources (including space and equipment) requires prior approval from the supervising faculty member. Additionally, the process must involve the assistance of the department’s teaching assistants, and the supervising faculty member must be informed afterward.
5️⃣ In the event of malfunction or improper use of laboratory resources (including space and equipment), the supervising faculty member and the department’s teaching assistants must be notified to investigate the cause and take necessary corrective actions.
6️⃣ At the end of each semester, the department’s teaching assistants are responsible for conducting an inventory check of laboratory resources (including space and equipment) and notifying the supervising faculty member of the results. In cases of resource shortages or damage, the supervising faculty member and the department chair must be informed to investigate the cause and take necessary corrective actions.
